My new Spells series combines magical symbols with your power

Remind yourself of your inner strength every day! Symbols are a great tool for this because they have a direct effect on our subconscious.

My new painting series Spells also brings completely new influences to my art: fine art meets witchcraft meets tattoo art! Each painting in this series carries a unique spell based on a positive affirmation that underlies the painting. As I didn't want to simply write a sentence on the canvas, I transformed each of the spells into a unique sigil symbol.

This in turn led me to tattoo art influences, as Sigils also like to be tattooed. I started learning how to tattoo specifically for this series, as I had originally planned to "tattoo" the canvas with a corresponding ballpoint pen attachment. However, I wasn't entirely happy with the materials (ballpoint pen on canvas), so I abandoned this idea and started working with other materials such as markers and oil pens.

Nevertheless, I will also make some of the spells motifs as tattodesigns and have already realized some of them on artificial skin.

The oil paintings in the series are in a mixed media style, whereby I combine transparent areas with thicker areas such as textured paste, creating contrasts in a stylish way.

Incidentally, only the buyer of the respective original painting will know the spell in its entirety and its exact wording, as I write the entire spell on the back of the canvas. However, there is also the option for art prints.
