The Egyptian goddess Hathor in a modern style on canvas<\/h2>\n

In ancient Egypt, the goddess Hathor stood for art and music, joie de vivre and pleasure - but also for the protection of the family and children. It is also thanks to her meanings of abundance, fertility and motherhood that she is often depicted with cow horns. As my pictures often contain animal elements, I have naturally taken up this aspect of Hathor at the same time.<\/p>\n

The painting is part of my Mythology series<\/a>in which I paint figures from ancient legends and myths in a modern setting. I do this deliberately because I want to remind you that there are superpowers in all of us and that the heroes, gods etc. are only a symbol of this. The old legends still live on - even in you! But we can interpret them in a modern way.<\/p>\n

In this painting I have combined an ancient symbol (the Ankh) together with the spray paints, collage elements and gold leaf to mix the traditional elements and symbols of Hathor with modern ones. Especially the versatile patterns through the collages are meant to represent the multitude of possibilities and creativity that are part of Hathor's meaning.<\/p>\n

This painting is done in many layers with acrylics and oils.<\/p>\n
