The Mayan goddess Ix Chel in a modern style on canvas<\/h2>\n

In Mayan mythology, the moon goddess Ix Chel stands for creation and the connection to nature. Her power animal, the rabbit, stands for intuition, sensitivity and the cycle of life. Ix Chel is strongly associated with water and the flowing elements of life as well as the moon. The snake is also one of her symbols, as it stands for femininity and healing.<\/p>\n

In this day and age, the goddess Ix Chel is certainly an inspiration that creativity can also mean healing and well-being and that everything follows its own cycle. In my painting, I have combined the traditional elements of Ix Chel with abstract, modern moments - including many transparent layers of ink and elements of spray paint.<\/p>\n

The painting is part of my series Mythology<\/a>in which I paint figures from ancient legends and myths in a modern setting. I do this deliberately because I want to remind you that there are superpowers in all of us and that the heroes, gods etc. are only a symbol of this. The old legends still live on - even in you! But we can interpret them in a modern way. I created the modern elements in this picture using collage elements and markings with acrylic pens.<\/p>\n

This painting is done in many layers with spray paint, acrylics and oils.<\/p>\n
