Goddess Skadi with Wolf: Walk Your Path (Mixed Media Oil Painting)<\/h2>\n

The Norse goddess Skadi represents the connection to nature, especially with winter, the mountains, and skiing as a traditional means of transportation in the cold North. Sometimes her name is also seen as the origin of the regional name Scandinavia. Skadi's motto is to stay true to oneself and to be independent. Be committed only to yourself and your own path.<\/p>\n

The wolf as her loyal companion underlines this message and also stands for the courage it sometimes takes when you embark on a path that does not conform to the mainstream, but simply feels right. Skadi is not a warrior in the classical sense and yet she encourages you to stand up for what is important to you.<\/p>\n

In my series Essence, I portray well-known goddesses from various cultures and place them in a modern context: These symbols are timeless and remind you of what always is: Your true essence, your power. Unlike in my series Mythology<\/a> in this series I also consciously abstract the goddess figures themselves a bit, by only rendering them partially realistically. This emphasizes their symbolic character and invites you to bring your own interpretation into the respective image.<\/p>\n

The painting was created in multiple layers using collage, acrylic and oil paints, texture paste, and gold paint.<\/p>\n
