You know that state between being awake and dreaming where you don't know exactly who you are, where you are and what is happening? The boundaries between sleeping and waking can sometimes become blurred as our consciousness drifts off into another world - or slowly awakens from sleep. This is where real magic can happen because your subconscious is more active and your analytical mind interferes less.
A state in which you can receive many ideas. In this picture, I wanted to visualize these two phases and dissolve the boundaries between them. The owl represents sleeping and the night, while the rooster stands for activity, wakefulness and the day.
"The alchemy of being awake and dreaming" is an image from my Alchemy seriesin which I unite opposites and different states in one painting.
This painting is done in many layers with acrylics and oils.
