Echo – Shift (Mixed Media Oil Painting)

This painting describes the moment you wake up from a dream and the echo of what you experienced still lingers. Who are you really when you allow yourself to be boundless? This painting is for people who love freedom yet want to feel safe and secure. The pelican simultaneously represents travel and foresight, while also symbolizing familiarity, along with the seashells.

The painting was created in several layers with structure paste, collage, acrylic, and oil paints.

What you should know about original paintings

An original has a different effect than a photograph.

My paintings are created in many layers of acrylic, oil, collage, texture, and fine details. This depth can only be captured to a limited extent in photographs. Only when an original finds its place in the room do the different layers, materials, and light reflections unfold, making each work come alive. Each painting is created only once and carries its own unique story.

What format suits you?

Each format has its own impact.

• Smaller works (my formats from 20x20 cm to approx. 40x50 cm) are everyday companions and can also be wonderfully placed rather than hung – e.g., as decoration in a special corner of the room. They are also suitable for combining with other small works (e.g., from the same series) on the wall, hung side-by-side.

• Medium formats (my formats from approx. 40x60 cm to 50x70 cm) combine expressiveness and versatility and blend harmoniously into many living or working spaces. Combine them, for example, with another expressive picture on the wall, or choose a corner of the room where they can hang and make an impact on their own.

• Large works (my formats from 60x80 cm) become the focal point of a room, giving the many layers, colors, and collage elements ample space to unfold. They are also suitable, for example, if you want to uniquely decorate business premises and create a special atmosphere for your customers or clients.

If you're unsure which work or format best suits your home, I'm happy to assist you personally.

Do you have any more questions about my original paintings?

Do I need a frame to hang my new painting? And how to hang it?

For my paintings on canvas, you don’t need an additional frame. The edges are either painted or printed (in the case of art prints), and the piece is ready to hang immediately. Works on paper, however, should be framed. Typically, I deliver my paper artworks unframed, as tastes vary and the frame should match your interior. If desired, I can, for an additional fee, order a suitable frame for the specific piece and deliver both together. Just contact me so we can find the best solution for you.

Canvas paintings, as well as (in exceptional cases) already framed paper works, are ready to hang right away. They come either with a picture hook or a hanging wire, allowing you to balance the artwork on your wall. For most pieces, a single nail in the wall is sufficient—only for larger works from 90 cm and up (especially in landscape or square formats) do I recommend using two nails for extra stability. Drilling a hole in the wall is not necessary.

If you choose to purchase your own frame to frame a canvas or paper artwork, please follow the instructions included with the frame, as it may require a different approach than the one I suggest.

Is it possible to pay my new painting or commissioned works in installments?

Yes, in individual cases this is possible. However, the artwork will remain with me until the final payment has been made. Installment payments are currently not available through the shop, and an additional fee applies for this option. If you’d like to use this option, feel free to contact me directly—I can then make you a personalized offer for the piece you’re interested in.

How does the shipment for original paintings work?

When you order your new painting from me, I carefully inspect it once more before packaging, clean it, and usually attach a hanging wire so you can display it right away. I also create a certificate of authenticity and include a personal handwritten note with a dedication to you.

Each painting is packed according to best practices for art shipping and secured as safely as possible. I pay special attention to protecting the corners and use bubble wrap to ensure everything arrives in perfect condition.

Paintings up to 80 cm are usually shipped within Germany via DHL. For larger pieces and international deliveries, I use other carriers such as Hermes, DPD, or UPS. If you have a preferred shipping provider, feel free to let me know—if it’s suitable for your order, I’ll gladly accommodate your request.

In any case, you will receive a tracking code by email so you can check the expected delivery date. If you agree during checkout to share your email address with the shipping provider, you will also receive direct updates from them once your delivery is about to arrive.

Where's the difference between an original painting and an art print?

Some of my paintings are also available as art prints, where an image of the original painting is reproduced, for example on paper or canvas. Some prints have open editions and can be reproduced and purchased as often as desired, while others are limited editions, restricted to a small number of copies (this is indicated in the respective product description) and are often further refined by me by hand, for example with individually added gold highlights.

Art prints are a wonderful way to immerse yourself in my artistic world and get to know my work—especially if you don’t yet own any original art. I have to be honest: once someone experiences and appreciates original paintings, they usually don’t want to hang prints anymore.

Since I work with mixed media techniques, a variety of materials, and often many layers, art prints can only ever be an approximation of the original. Not all details can be represented in a print the way they appear in the original painting—whether it’s texture paste, which can only be printed flat, the vibrant oil colors that give the original its depth, or gold highlights that make the original reflect and glow, which the print cannot replicate. An original painting always radiates more than a print, as every brushstroke is visually and tangibly present, allowing you to get lost in it for hours.

Where's the difference between a painting on canvas and on paper? And in which formats do you paint?

The decision of whether a mixed media painting on canvas or on paper is right for you ultimately rests entirely with you. Sometimes you simply fall in love with a particular piece—and the medium becomes secondary.

I offer paintings on different media and in various formats: Mixed media works on canvas can be hung immediately and do not need framing. All canvas paintings are painted on the edges, and most come with a hanging wire on the back, allowing you to hang the piece professionally on a wall hook. My paintings are predominantly created on high-quality stretcher frames with wide edges. These canvases are not only of excellent quality, but the wide edges also give them a refined, elegant appearance.

Perhaps your taste leans more toward framed, flatter works? My paintings on paper (mostly in standard DIN formats) usually come unframed, as the frame is a matter of personal taste and should match your interior. In these cases, you purchase a frame individually and can frame and hang the piece as you wish. However, if you prefer a complete package with both artwork and frame, it is also possible for me, in consultation with you, to order a suitable frame and send you the finished framed piece (prices upon request). A frame naturally adds an elegant look to a piece—but it will always create some reflection, even if you choose an anti-reflective option when purchasing.

Personally, I feel that an unframed canvas painting invites the viewer in and “pulls” them into its world, whereas a framed paper artwork projects outward and reflects into the room.

The standard formats for my canvas mixed media paintings are (in cm): 50×50, 50×60, 50×70, 60×80, 60×90, 70×100, and 80×80 cm, with most works created in portrait orientation (though some are horizontal). For my paper works, I most commonly use DIN A2 and DIN A1 formats. If you commission a custom painting from me,you are, of course, welcome to choose other formats in consultation with me.

I'm not sure if this painting really fits my taste and into my home. Can you help me?

Of course. Choosing an original online is different from buying an everyday item. The colors, textures, and many details of my paintings, in particular, can only be reproduced to a limited extent in photos.

If you'd like a more detailed view, I'd be happy to send you more photos, close-ups, or a short video of the original.

Are you unsure whether the piece will match your home in terms of color or overall effect? Then simply send me a photo of the spot where you want to hang the painting. If you wish, I can create a simple visualization of how the picture would look in that spot, so you can make a decision with peace of mind.
