Make peace with yourself (mixed media oil painting)

Peace is a state we often hope to find in the external world, yet rarely truly do. This image captures the moment you realize that the most important relationship is the one you have with yourself — and that you stand by your own side.

Doves are often seen as a symbol of peace. But if we give all our power to that symbol and become dependent on it, we won’t get very far. In my piece, the dove rests on the woman’s shoulder because they are one. It reminds you: no matter what is happening outside of you — or in the world — begin by letting go of any inner conflict against yourself.

The artwork was created in multiple layers using collage, acrylic and oil paints, as well as gold accents.
