The Nordic goddess Rán in a modern style on canvas (mixed media or as an art print)
The Norse goddess Rán is the goddess of the sea and is often described as a mysterious and unpredictable figure - yet she stands not only for the wild and devouring nature of the sea, but also for its infinite depth and the hidden possibilities that lie within it. In my painting Goddess Rán and the octopus I have emphasized precisely this aspect: instead of being gloomy and threatening, Rán appears here in an open, friendly light.
The octopus, her spirit animal, embodies intelligence, adaptability and the ability to reinvent oneself from any situation. It shows that the depths of the ocean - and of life - are full of possibilities.
The picture is part of my series Mythologyin which I paint figures from ancient legends and myths in a modern setting. I do this deliberately because I want to remind you that there are superpowers in all of us and that the heroes, gods etc. are only a symbol of this. The old legends still live on - even in you! But we can interpret them in a modern way.
Modern neon colors run through my painting and break with the traditional ideas of Rán. It is not about fear of the unknown, but about connecting with the flow of life, embracing change and recognizing what forces are waiting for you in the depths.
This painting was created in several layers using collage, acrylic and oil paints. You have the choice of ordering the original painting (80×80 cm on canvas) or an art print (60×60 cm on canvas or 70x70cm on fine art paper, will be printed after ordering). Of course, only the original painting has the unique radiance that the oil paints and the reflective gold paint bring with them. The print may differ in color from the original. The structure paste used with the resulting structure is of course only contained in the original.

Original painting or art print? You decide
Here you can see a direct comparison of an art print vs. the original, both on canvas. Elements made of a special material, such as textured paste or gold leaf, can of course look different and less vivid in the art print. The canvases of the art prints contain a small amount of polyester and are therefore harder than "real" art canvases. However, the other finishes are very similar to the original.
All canvases have either an enclosed metal hanger (the art prints) or a picture wire attached by me (originals) so that the pictures can easily be hung directly on a nail on the wall.
The fine art prints on paper come unframed, as it is my experience that the taste for picture frames is very individual and they should match the interior. However, if you would like to receive your fine art paper print framed, please contact me instead of booking here via the store. Then I can give you the prices for already framed pictures and order them manually according to your wishes.
